The European Researchers’ Night 2023 took place on Friday, September 29. The diversity of science and its impact was displayed in this wide-public event, occurring simultaneously in 26 countries. NOVA Math researchers were present, once more.

Carlos Santos (Algebra Group) challenged the audience with quizzes inspired by Raymond Smullyan. Isabel Correia and Paula Amaral (Operations Research Group) underlined the relevance of Operations Research in determining the location of security facilities.  Isabel Natário (Statistics Group) actively demonstrated how to assess fishing sustainability, and Rogério Martins (Analysis Group) engaged the audience in Maths busking. 

These events provided a unique opportunity for society and science to interact, with advantages for both.
