António Malheiro is an Associate Professor at the Mathematics Department of NOVA School of Science and Technology (Lisbon, Portugal), as well as a member of the Research Center for Mathematics and Applications (NOVA Math).

He was the Director of the research center NOVA Math, with more than 100 researchers, in the period 2018-2022. Since 2022, he is the President of the Portuguese National Mathematics Committee. Malheiro is also a member of the Faculty Council of NOVA FCT.

His research interests include Algebra and Combinatorics, namely in Groups and Semigroups, Algebraic Combinatorics, Cryptography, Coding theory, and Computational Algebra.
