Exploring Safety Risks in Automated Vehicles: Addressing Challenges of Reclined Seating

Abstract: The United Nations’ initiative for sustainable cities has sparked a shift in transportation towards vehicle electrification and automated driving. This technology offers reclined seating, challenging existing safety standards. To address this, safety concerns are explored in automated vehicles through virtual collision tests. The analysis considers biomechanical factors and certification protocols, utilising statistical and machine learning techniques, allowing the identification of injury patterns on the human body introduced by the reclining posture.

Statistics and Machine Learning for Industry

Abstract: This talk will cover some of the researcher’s activity in the fields of statistics and machine learning related to production engineering. Emphasis will be given to methodologies applied to production engineering and Industry 4.0; namely a time series model for energy markets price forecasting and a machine learning model with a Bayesian framework for protein selection in pharmaceuticals.
