The NOVA Math Thematic Weeks 2023, with an emphasis on Mathematical models in Health, jointly organized by the NOVA Math’s Thematic Lines, Biomathematics, Mathematics for Health, and Data Science, will take place from the 5th to the 13th of July, at FCT-NOVA.

The event is intended for students, researchers, and professionals interested in extending their knowledge on the mathematical methods, computational tools, and technologies covered. Participants at the interface between mathematics, computer, health and medical sciences will have the opportunity to attend seminars on the underlying theory and concepts, practical hands-on sessions using the R language, and participate in informal discussions.

During the event, invited lecturers will cover a wide range of topics, including:

– Bayesian inference in medical statistics and epidemiology (Lecturer: Alexandra Posekany, Vienna University of Technology)

– Markov Chains in Epidemiology (Lecturer: Antonio Gómez Corral, Complutense University of Madrid)

– Bioinformatics tools for multi-omics analysis (Lecturer: Sonia Tarazona, Universitat Politècnica de València)

Workshop requirements: R and RStudio installed; basic knowledge of R.
