Lourdes Afonso, NOVA Math member, was elected board member of the Actuarial Association of Europe (AAE).
The AAE was founded in 1978 with the aim of representing the actuarial associations in Europe. Its main purpose is to advise the different organizations of the European Union – the Commission, the Council of Ministers, the European Parliament, the EIOPA (European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority) and its various committees – on actuarial subjects in European legislation. Currently, the AAE has 37 member associations, representing 36 European countries, and more than 29,000 actuaries. The advice and comments provided by AAE, on behalf of the European actuarial profession, are completely independent of company interests.
